Here’s The Ultimate Breakdown of Chartering a Yacht

Not many things can match the glamour of a yacht experience. The endless list of fun activities in the most luxurious of settings, with the breeze through your hair, sounds alluring to many of us. As we slowly get back to normal after the pandemic, a private yacht charter could be the perfect way to get away from it all. The clear and most common question on everyone’s mind is, ‘how much does it actually cost to charter a yacht?’

Before we bring you the breakdown, it’s important to note that the yacht of choice is entirely dependent on how many guests there will be. In the table below, we’ve listed the five types of boats offered by Chuhai Time. A fishing trawler can take up to a maximum of 10 people, while a cabin cruiser fits roughly 15 to 18 people on average. Sailboats, which are more luxurious than cabin cruisers, can accommodate between 15 and 30 people. The catamaran is suitable for a larger group of up to about 40 people, while the luxury yachts can fit up to 55.

Yacht TypeNumber of Pax Price Per Person Additional price per pax with food and non alcoholic drinksAdditional price with food and alcoholic drinks
Fishing Trawler10$70 – $100+$30 – $50+$50 – $80
Cabin Cruiser15 – 18$80 – $120+$30 – $50+$50 – $80
Sail Boats15-30$120 – $200+$30 – $50+$50 – $80
Catamaran40 $80 – $180+$30 – $50+$50 – $80
Luxury Yacht 55$160 – $240+$30 – $50+$50 – $80

In the table, we’ve displayed the price per person according to the yacht, with the cheaper range based on the assumption that the yacht is fully maxed out by its capacity. Please note that these prices are merely estimates and do not take into account certain anomalies.

On average, it would cost a minimum of about $100 to $120 per person for a great but affordable yacht experience. Again, this is entirely dependent on the type of yacht. For a cheaper alternative, we suggest fishing trawlers. While they’re no luxury yacht, these reliable   boats will ferry you safely to and fro Lazarus or St John’s Island. Ideally, fishing trawlers are better suited as transportation for groups when island-hopping around Singapore. Cabin cruisers are typically popular yacht charters. They are surely more impressive if you intend to have boat parties. Let Chuhai Time know your estimated number of guests, so we can recommend the right yacht.

Sailboats aren’t like most boats that people rent out because they cost more, but they sometimes have the same amount of space as cabin cruisers. However, if you’re a big fan of boats, you’ll know the appeal of this yacht for its sails.

Catamarans are the next upgrade from cabin cruisers. It charges the same price but can accommodate more people. The catamaran is great for corporate hosting and larger workshops.

For those who intend to go grand and large, the luxury yachts are for you. You can easily throw extravagant parties aboard the luxury yachts, at a price of $160 to $240 per person (not including food and drinks), but we guarantee it will be worth every penny. Depending on the size of the boat, adding decorations for a special event could cost an extra $600 or more, and proposing on a small boat could cost an extra $400 or more. We also have a lot of other things to do, like workshops, fishing, water sports, and team-building exercises. If you can think of it, we’ll try to provide it.

Chartering a yacht may seem out of reach, but when split between friends or family per hour, it is comparable to a night out in town. And as such a unique experience, we highly recommend you give yachting a try.
